Teaching writing is my original passion, but my second career. I returned to college in my 30s after burnout in an advertising career, earning my AA from Shoreline CC and my BA from the University of Washington—twenty years after my high school graduation—and finally an MFA in poetry from Antioch University.
I knew I wanted to work at a community college after the wonderful experience I had as a returning adult student. What I love about community colleges is how they welcome us whenever we're ready for the next step of our educations.
As part of my work here at the college, I am the English department Chair and Faculty Coordinator of the Writing Center.
I’m very interested in how technology is impacting us as teachers and learners, and I’ve recently completed a year-long certificate program through Renton Technical College in Online Teaching at Community Colleges. Currently I am teaching literature and writing courses online and serving as the current eLearning Faculty Liaison.
